LIONEL MESSI was forced to watch from the bench as Bayern Munich inflicted a record European defeat on Barcelona.
With the crocked Argentinian an unused substitute, Arjen Robben netted at the start of the second-half to seal the tie.
And to rub salt into Catalan wounds a Gerard Pique own-goal and Thomas Muller’s header completed an astonishing SEVEN-GOAL hammering.
Barca were toothless without their 58-goal striker and never looked like overturning their four-goal first-leg deficit.
And the net result was a humiliating rout as Bayern waltzed into an all-German final.
Gerard Pique produced an unbelievable full stretch challenge to deny Robben an early opportunity.
The Flying Dutchman was almost able to get on the end of David Alaba’s well-judged ball, but Marc Bartra intercepted.
Bayern’s Austrian defender almost gave the Catalan’s a chance soon later when he slipped and allowed Dani Alves to cross, but the Brazilian could not pick out a team-mate.
Philipp Lahm and Robben were a constant threat as the Germans looked dangerous on the break and the Spaniards had Pique to thank for keeping them out.
Xavi missed his side’s best chance before the break as he rifled over the bar on the volley when well placed.
In the first-half the hosts played with a very high line and looked likely to concede the killer goal at some point.
And just after the break, Robben cut in from the right flank and curled a beauty into the back of the net as he had been threatening to do all night.
Even after the goal, the visitors were by far the most threatening team as the much-praised home team were simply outplayed.
And the dominance of the Germans was hammered home yet again for all to see soon later.
Alves — always known as more of an attacking option — went to sleep and allowed the Germans to attack down the right.
And Pique shinned the ball into his own net trying to keep a cross from reaching Mario Mandzukic.
And it only got worse for the Spaniards as Muller popped up for a trademark back post header to make it three on the night, seven in total.
The game finished with chants of Football's Coming Home ringing out around the Nou Camp as the German fans looked ahead to their date with rivals Dortmund at Wembley.
For a team considered by some to be the greatest team ever seen in World football, Barcelona seemed completely lost without their star man and never seemed close to being capable of beating Bayern
