BIOGRAPHY:
Salim ali worked as model for 2 years before establishing him self as fashion designer with his label Mtoko designs.
He has also worked as a stylist to different Tanzanian personalities for example Banana zorro and his band, EATV nirvana presenters.
He uses locally made materials like khanga, kitenge & and batiki to create original
african looks.
He showcased his designs in different fashion shows like lady in red fashion shows, swahili fashion week 2011, 2012. And also he was nominated in the category of the best menswear designer of the year 2011 by the swahili fashion week. And he has succeded to won the award of the best upcoming designer of the year in the lady in red fashion show.
Hii ni collection yangu ya tatu tangu niingie katika ulimwengu wa fashion. Na collection hii imekuwa inspired na rangi pamoja na dhima ya mimi kutaka kujitangaza zaidi, ndo maana nikaiita MNG'AO. Nimeizindua rasmi tarehe 18 april, alliance francaise nikiwa na model fromUS, Nyere Arinze. Pia katika kuonesha tofauti nimefanya piece moja ya nguo ya kike, hii ni kitu ambacho cjawai kukifanya kabla sababu yakuzoeleka kuwa ni base katika menswear. Na hii haimaanishi kama sas nimeamua kuingia katika kubuni mavazi ya kina dada, ilikuwa ni kuonesha tu tofauti kwa colletion hii.
